Dear Brothers & Sisters at BPPC,
As you are aware, last year the Assembly announced the intention of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland (PCQ) to withdraw from residential aged care and offer the facilities for sale to suitable alternative providers. The formal sale process for the facilities is now nearing completion and the Commission of Assembly is pleased to advise that an agreement has been reached which will see the operations of Groundwater Lodge and Yaralla Place situated in Maryborough and Alexandra Gardens located in Rockhampton transfer to Apollo Care Operations.
Apollo is a well-regarded operator, with a proven record for delivering quality aged care in local community settings, often in partnership with not-for-profit and faith-based groups. Importantly, the sale agreement will ensure continuity for existing residents, and under these arrangements, all existing staff will be offered employment with the new provider and ongoing pastoral care will be provided to residents by the church through the local PCQ congregations.
It is the intent that arrangements will soon be finalised with Apollo Care and the Federal Government to transition to the new provider. The transition itself could take a number of weeks to complete in full.
Over the coming days, Mr Wayne Knapp, PresCare CEO, and a number of Directors of Apollo Care will be at the facilities to meet with residents, families and staff to discuss the transition process and the formal documentation associated with this.
Formal letters and advice to residents and staff will follow shortly thereafter.
Please continue to pray for the residents and staff at all PresCare facilities, for the PresCare CEO and his team, and for the smooth transition of operations at Maryborough and Rockhampton to the new provider.
