Honour Where Honour is Due

Thank you Jim Hopkin, from all of us at BPPC.

A Vision that became Reality

Jim Hopkin's long role as an Elder has been particularly significant for the Browns Plains Congregation because he was the first and founding elder.

It was Jim who pushed for the small Browns Plains Congregation to be upgraded from a Preaching place of Acacia Ridge to become independent. He had a hand in the purchase of ten acres of land in Waller Road at a time when it was all bush.

Time for a Pastor

When two other elders, Merv. Arnold and Dave Smith were added, Browns Plains became a Home Mission Station with Jim Hopkin as Session Clerk. It was Jim who moved to get Danny Mihailovic appointed as an exit student from the Theological College and he became the minister for the next 28 years.

With only 22 members, the fledging congregation set about building on the Waller Road block and the congregation gradually grew into a thriving Christian community.

Jim's strong sense of the importance of the ministry of elders and the importance of prayer laid a strong foundation for that growth.

Looking Forward

We at Browns Plains want to thank God and you, Jim, for your faithful ministry over so many years. May the Lord bless, keep and use you as you and June continue ministering, for ministry is "the overflow of an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ" - wherever you might be.
