Richard Wilson’s News and Prayer Notes

Kathmandu from 8th to 11th October 2016

A lot has been happening with the Ministry of the Gospel through the Nepal Campus Church. Persecution of Christians in Nepal is becoming more difficult by the day. Pastor Uma Sharma is taking every opportunity to advance the work of the Gospel and the Kingdom of God. The numbers attending NCC have increased dramatically which has necessitated two worship services in the morning and the planting of a second church that is also developing worship services.

House fellowships are also developing, and the interest in the Gospel is awakening in many parts. Uma is seeking to sell his house so that land can be purchased to build a very rudimentary church facility for ministry. Pastor Uma is planning for two missionary trips to the remote regions of Nepal for September, and is praying for the resources needed for this ministry and also for open doors into communities and into people's hearts. He will be following the same patterns for this ministry as years before.

He uses his translated  and published Christianity Explored material to set the agenda for any Gospel outreach and then uses all the opportunities to preach the Gospel throughout the villages of the district that he is visiting.

I will be teaching for two days at a Bible seminar. Even though this visit will be short I will be able to gain very valuable information to report on the next time I send out an IRFA News and Prayer Notes. In Nepal the political situation is changing so quickly that it is very difficult to keep up.

Please pray for Nepal and the Christian church in this troubled land.

Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me, that I may be delivered from those in Judea who do not believe, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you. (Romans 15:30-32).

1. Please pray for the various IRFA Projects that now need funds:

  • The republication of 'Christianity Explored' material that was translated and published first 3 years ago and is now republished and is being used. Pray for finances to purchase Bibles through the TBS addition which was used so effectively for Pastor Uma Sharma's own conversion.
  • Give thanks to God for funds that have come in so that Pastor Uma Sharma can continue his missionary visitation work into the remote parts of Nepal.
  • Pray for continuing finances through various means so that land can be purchased to build places of worship that are not controlled by Hindu interests. That God will orchestrate the sale of Uma's house and land so that they are able to purchase land and build structures for the growing work.

2. Our good friend Elizabeth Kendall is calling upon us to pray further for the Nepal, that God will:

  • intervene in Nepal, to preserve religious liberty. May our great redeeming God redeem this divisive debate on secularism and religious freedom and use it to open eyes, hearts and minds to the dangers posed by communalism, the risks inherent in rolling back liberty and the blessings to be gained from freedom.
  • grant influential Nepalese Christians divine wisdom and authority as they seek to influence the debate, advocate for religious freedom and counter Hindu nationalist propaganda.
  • grant Nepalese Christians, evangelists, church workers and church leaders divine wisdom as they navigate the path ahead; may God continue to build his Church in Nepal.
